| On Friday, September 8, 2006, CWA Local 1182 members turned out in record numbers to ratify a new contract with New York City. Almost 900 of our 2400 members voted on this contract providing us the largest raise in many years. This contract included a substantial raise of over 10% over the 32 months. It also included the elimination of an unfair residency requirement for enforcement officers, an additional 1% pay increase

retroactive to the last contract, a generous increase to the welfare fund and other benefits.
As of September 20, 2006, there will also be a Sanitation Enforcement Agent , Level II (SEA Level II) position. This new title will consist of performing all Level I duties, Lot Patrol, Field Surveys of Enforcement accidents and incidents. In the temporary absence of the Supervisor, the SEA Level II may assume the duties of the supervisor. This is just some of the duties of the SEA LevelII. There will be a substantial increase in pay for the SEA LevelII position, which will be announced at a later date.
Membership participation on September 8th was critical and voting took place from 7:00am to 7:00pm at the Downtown Holiday Inn in Soho. This was clearly the best contract we have achieved in may years and it was critical that our members participated in the voting process to demonstrate union strength. Special thanks to our ratification committee for coordinating the event and counting the votes until 10pm. Special thanks to all CWA Local 1182 Members for your participation and continued support.
Fraternally,
James Huntley
